ALL IS WELL #2

Last evening we gathered to honor, thank and pay tribute to the retiring President of the House of Deputies, The Very Reverend George L. W. Werner of the Diocese of Pittsburg and The Most Rev. Frank T. Griswold the XXV Presiding Bishop, The Episcopal Church, USA (note that this is now the only way the Episcopal Church is to be referenced). Bound together by the death and resurrection of our Lord these two brought different styles of ministry to their duties that has not only kept us together but provided a light for the future.
George Werner brought the no nonsense of a New York City up bringing to the priesthood and coupled it with a warm heart and a great gift of gab. He proved that there was no one he could not get along with, he loved people and was loved in return. One of his greatest gifts to our Church is his involvement of young people in the Church. He has been successful and his efforts will positively impact TEC in the years to come. Every church in our Diocese will need to pick up on the techniques that he has sponsored.
At first glance Frank Griswold is the perfect symbol of a Bishop of The Episcopal Church both in style and pedigree, but the events of the last few years have shown a presence of the Holy Spirit that truly shines forth to cast a light on the whole of the Anglican Communion. Of all that was said about him, the most obvious to all was that he is "a man of prayer". I hope that in the years to come we all come to understand what that has meant and will continue to mean to TEC. Woody
